Prayers are ALWAYS Answered

A truly beautiful story :

During World War II, a soldier was separated from his unit on an island. The fighting had been intense, and in the smoke and the crossfire he had lost touch with his comrades.

Alone in the jungle, he could hear enemy soldiers coming in his direction. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge to several small caves in the rock. Quickly he crawled inside one of the caves.

Although safe for the moment, he realised that once the enemy soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all the caves and would be killed.

As he waited, he prayed, "Lord, please spare my life. Whatever will happen, I love you and trust you. Amen." After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy begin to draw close.

He thought, "Well, I guess the Lord isn't going to help me out of this one." Then he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave. "Hah" he thought, "What I need is a brick wall and what the Lord has sent me is a spider web. God does have a sense of humour. "

As the enemy drew closer he watched from the darkness of his hide out and could see them searching one cave after another.

As they came to his, he got ready to make his last stand, but then he heard the leader of the soldiers say, "You may as well ignore looking in this cave....if he had entered here this web would be broken!" So they left and he was delivered!

To his amazement, however, after glancing in the direction of his cave, they moved on. Suddenly he realised that with the spider web over the entrance, his cave looked as if no one had entered for quite a while.

"Lord, forgive me," he prayed. "I had forgotten that in you a spider's web is stronger than a brick wall."

God's ways are not our ways, God's thoughts are not our thoughts.. He will neither leave us nor forsake us..
Let's trust in God always!!

(Sometimes a prayer doesn't change the situation.
But it changes our attitudes towards the situation
And gives us hope which changes our entire life).

Story behind why Gold is bought on Dhanteras.

There are many interesting stories behind the celebration of Dhanteras and here is one of them.

Dhanteras has an interesting story which suggests why buying gold is considered auspicious on this day.

According to an adage, the story of Dhanteras revolves around the  16-year old son of King Hima and his newly-wed wife.
A prophecy had indicated the King’s son will die on the fourth-day of marriage.

On that day, In order to keep her husband awake and safe, his newly wedded wife  made a heap of her ornaments, including lots of Gold and Silver coins at the entrance of the sleeping chamber.

She then started singing and narrated stories to prevent her husband from falling asleep.

The next day, when the God of Death, Lord Yama came in the guise of Serpent, to take life of Prince, his eyes were dazzled by the blinding gold and silver.

Lord Yama was unable to enter the chamber and  climbed the heap of wealth and sat there listening to the songs and stories. In the morning, Yama is believed to have left silently without taking the king.

Thus, the young prince was saved from the clutches of death by the cleverness of his new bride, and the day came to be celebrated as Dhanteras

Since then, buying gold or silver on this day or even other forms of ‘dhan’, is considered auspicious to keep evil and death away.

What is Kaliyug??

What is Kaliyug and what will happen during Kaliyug?

Asked The four Pandavas (except Yudhishthira who was not present)

Krishna smiled and said "let me demonstrate you the situation of Kaliyug". He took a bow and four arrows and shot them in four directions, and ordered the four Pandavas to bring them back

Each of the four Pandavas went in four different directions to search for the arrows

Arjuna when picked the arrow heard a very sweet voice; he turned back and saw a cuckoo was singing bhajans in very spellbinding voice but was also eating flesh of a live rabbit which was in great pain. Arjuna was very surprised to see such a gory act by such a divine bird. He left the place immediately

Bhima picked the arrow from a place where five wells were situated, the four wells were surrounding a single well. The four wells were overflowing with very sweet water as if they were not able to hold the water. But surprisingly the well in the middle of these four overflowing wells was completely empty. Bhima was also puzzled at this sight

Nakula was returning to the place after picking up the arrow. He stopped at a place where a cow was about to give birth

After giving birth the cow started licking the calf but continued to lick it even after the calf was clean. With great difficulty people were able to separate them and by that time the calf was injured badly. Nakula was puzzled by the behaviour of such a calm animal

Sahadev picked the arrow which fell near a mountain and saw a big boulder falling, the boulder was crushing the rocks and big trees on his way down, but the same boulder was stopped by a small plant. Sahadev was also amazed at this sight

All the Pandavas asked the meaning of these incidents from Krishna, who smiled and started explaining

"In Kaliyug the priests will have very sweet voice and also have great knowledge, but they will exploit devotees the same way the cuckoo was doing to the rabbit. In Kaliyug poor will live among the rich. Those rich will have enormous amount of wealth which will actually overflow but they will not offer a single penny to the poor, in the same way as the four wells didn't give a single drop of water to the empty well

In Kaliyug parent will love their children so much that their love will actually spoil them and destroy their lives similar to the love shown by the cow to her newborn calf

In Kaliyug people will fall in terms of character like the boulder from the mountain and they will not be stopped by anyone. At the end only the name of God will be able to hold them from doom like how the little plant held the boulder from falling down further

That's the explanation of Kaliyug from God Krishna to the four Pandavas

There are no "Accidents"

Dr.Mark, a well-known cancer specialist, was once on his way to an important conference in another city where he was going to be granted an award in the field of medical research.

He was very excited to attend the conference and was desperate to reach as soon as possible. He had worked long and hard on his research and felt his efforts deserved the award he was about to obtain.

However, two hours after the plane took off, the plane made an emergency landing at the nearest airport due to some technical snag. Afraid, that he wouldn't make it in time for the conference, Dr. Mark immediately went to the reception and found that the next flight to the destination was after ten hours. The receptionist suggested him, to rent a car and drive himself down to the conference city which was only four hours away.

Having no other choice, he agreed to the idea despite his hatred for driving long distances.
Dr. Mark rented a car and started his journey. However, soon after he left, the weather suddenly changed and a heavy storm began. The pouring rain made it very difficult for him to see and he missed a turn he was supposed to take.

After two hours of driving, he was convinced he was lost. Driving in the heavy rain on a deserted road, feeling hungry and tired, he frantically began to look for any sign of civilization. After some time, he finally came across a small tattered house. Desperate, he got out of the car and knocked on the door. A beautiful lady opened the door. He explained the matter and asked her if he could use her telephone.
However, the lady told him that she doesn't have a phone or any electronic gadget but told the doctor to come inside and wait till the weather improved.
Hungry, wet and exhausted, the doctor accepted her kind offer and walked in. The lady  gave him hot tea and something to eat. The lady told him that he can join her for prayer. But, Dr. Mark smiled and said that he believed in hard work only and told her to continue with her prayers.
Sitting on the table and  sipping the tea, the doctor watched the woman in the dim light of candles as she prayed next to what appeared to be a small baby crib.

Every time she finished a prayer, she would start another one. Feeling that the woman might be in need of help, the doctor seized the opportunity to speak as soon as she finished her prayers. The doctor asked her what exactly she wanted from the God and enquired if she thought God will ever listen to her prayers. He further asked about the small child in the crib for whom she was apparently praying. The lady gave a sad smile and said that the child in the crib is her son who is suffering from a rare type of cancer and there is only one doctor Mark who can cure him but she doesn't have money to afford his fee and moreover Dr Mark lives in another far off town. She said that God has not answered her prayer so far but said that God will create some way out one day and added that she will not allow her fears to overcome her faith.

Stunned and speechless Dr Mark was in tears which were rolling down his cheeks. He whispered, God is great and recollected the sequence of events. ....there was malfunction in the plane, a thunderstorm hit, and he lost his way; and all of this happened because God did not just answer her prayer but also gave him a chance to come out of materialistic world and give some time to the poor hopeless people who have nothing but rich prayers.

Always be prepared to do .......
What God has prepared you for

Carrying the Burden

The Burden

One Sunday morning, a wealthy man sat in his balcony enjoying sunshine and his coffee when a little ant caught his eye which was going from one side to the other side of the balcony carrying a big leaf several times more than its size. The man watched it for more than an hour. He saw that the ant faced many impediments during its journey, paused, took a diversion and then continued towards destination. At one point the tiny creature came across a crack in the floor. It paused... for a little while, analyzed and then laid the huge leaf over the crack, walked over the leaf, picked the leaf on the other side then continued its journey.

The man was captivated by the cleverness of the ant, one of God’s tiniest creatures. The incident left the man in awe and forced him to contemplate over the miracle of Creation. It showed the greatness of the Creator. In front of his eyes there was this tiny creature of God, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to analyze, contemplate, reason, explore, discover and overcome. Along with all these capabilities, the man also noticed that this tiny creature shared some human shortcomings.

The man saw about an hour later the creature had reached its destination – a tiny hole in the floor which was entrance to its underground dwelling. And it was at this point that the ant’s shortcoming that it shared with the man was revealed. How could the ant carry into the tiny hole the large leaf that it had managed to carefully bring to the destination? It simply couldn’t…!

So the tiny creature, after all the painstaking and hard work and exercising great skills, overcoming all the difficulties along the way, just left behind the large leaf and went home empty-handed. The ant had not thought about the end before it began its challenging journey and in the end the large leaf was nothing more than a burden to it. The creature had no option, but to leave it behind to reach its destination. The man learned a great lesson that day.

Isn’t that the truth about our lives? We worry about our family, we worry about our job, we worry about how to earn more money, we worry about where we should live – 5 bedroom or 6 bedroom house, what kind of vehicle to buy – a Mercedes or BMW or a Porsche, what kind of dresses to wear, all sorts of things, only to abandon all these things when we reach our last destination  .We don’t realize in our life’s journey that these are just burdens that we are carrying with utmost care and fear of losing them, only to find that at the end they are useless and we can’t take them with us.

INNER PURIFICATION

πŸ”†πŸ”±. Few disciples went to the master and told the master that they are all going for a pilgrimage trip. The Master asked them the purpose of this trip and the disciples said it is for “ Inner Purification”. The master immediately took out a Karela ( Bitter gourd) and handed over this to them . The disciples asked the master what is that they are supposed to do with the Karela.  The master said carry this Karela with you , where ever you go and do Pooja , keep this Karela also in the pooja and do the pooja.  The disciples took the karela with them and where ever they went kept the Karela in the pooja and brought it back.

After returning back from the trip , they met the master and offered back the Karela to the master.  The master asked them to cook that karela and serve the same to him . They cooked the Karela and served the food the master .  Master tasted the food and the karela and said it is still bitter.  You took this to every temple and came back and it is still bitter. Disciples said it is the nature of the bitter gourd.
The Master smiled and the disciples understood the meaning.
The significance of this story to all of us is that basically if we have to change, our nature has to change . Simply going there , going here is not going to help. It is important that the bottle has to be cleaned from inside.  Outside everything can be adjusted or created. The inner nature has to change. The inner shift has to come and that is inner spiritualism and our Attitudes towards life, people , family, friends, community etcπŸ™πŸ½
